Step 1: Tie a simple Windsor Knot:

Today I am going to show you a demonstration of how to tie a tie, using a simple Windsor knot here, using a right hand method. If you are looking in a mirror, you will have to allow for this.

Take the tie over the back of our heads and we can lift our collar up carefully while we do this. Place the tie behind our collar make sure it is behind the collar and do this to try and adjust it to get it settled in there. When we are in this position, we need to have the right side quite a bit longer than the right side, like so. This is to allow for a knot. Now with a narrow side, move it over to the left a bit and cross the right side over the top of it. Make sure that this side stays within the collar, like so. So that is crossed over the top of this the narrow side now. Put our hands underneath for pass. Wrap the right side pull it down underneath. That forms our first base for our first loop.

Round again on our second loop. Wrap again bring it down. This time grasp tie, quiet neat at the top so that this loop here. Push it up through the loop of our neck, like so. Bring the tie over the top. This time move it a little over there. Grasping, pull it out like so, and over the top. This is a reasonably good chance to check that you have the lengths of the sides correct. The right side wants to be probably a little bit longer than the other side. Okay, and while we are here, we can make sure there are no creases in the tie or anything like that.

Now actually, to do this part it is a little bit tricky for some people but. the way it goes is, place our finger through this hole here, like so and perhaps loosen up this top knot. Grab the end of our tie, keep our finger in there and start pulling down through that loop. Pull it down make sure that this is quite, fairly even; not a lot of space here. And this is our tie, or so, just about. Adjust tightness, just by pulling away there. Have a wide path, don’t have it too tight. We can adjust the tie around our neck by holding another part and sliding the knot taut and it is reasonably comfortable. Fold our collar so it is all there, our tie in the back there. A few final adjustments and basically that is how Windsor Knots – finished.

Tighten it a bit more, possibly making a little more adjustments. Sometimes on these ties, we do have a label, here is my label and this can be quite useful for putting the narrow side down there. Make some fie adjustments. Basically, that’s our Windsor Knot complete there. Now to take it off sometimes it can be a little tight to take it off.

Can depend on how little is the knot. I can off happy with the ties loop. Take the narrow part out of the label. Gradually push out into this top loop here, so it can go all the way down here. That will give you a chance to pass the right hand gradually. Pull it out like so, gently like that and that so the tie is undone. I have explained how to tie a simple Windsor Knot and how to remove it. Thanks and good luck on your business meetings, interviews and best wishes.

I watched this vid and it helped me a lot. Thank u for your hard work. Yes, the quality is a bit bad and the sound / this wind sound is realy annoying, but my tie looks pretty good... now I have to tie another one xD

Euroinfo: It must be really great to be a spoilt ignorant selfish person who has the best hardware and software to be able to produce the quality of video they would like to... but some of us are not rich and do not get our Mammy to buy us the best gear every day.

Sorry mate but you look like a PRATT, you sound like a PRATT, your demo was completely rubbish and you should have been standing when you shot this video. What the hell is that crappy noise in the background? Don't give up your day job and your finished tie is too short and you can see the narrow side hanging below the wide side??? I think you need to get out of your council estate and visit the lunatic asylum, this is the worst video I have seen on this site. Sorry but someone has to tell you the truth.
