So, we're learning the clinch knot, which is a great knot for sea fishing and fishing mostly with heavier models, so let's say fifteen-pound models and a glove. The improved clinch knot just has that little extra feature which stops the knot slipping when you're using a much finer thing. Put the eye in the fly, we'll stick with the four turns thing; it's easy to remember.

One turn, two turns, three turns, four turns, around the mid lane, back through the bottom of the knot, then what we're left with is this shape here. Now, the improved to that is the tuck, and the tuck is nothing more than coming out the bottom of the knot, coming back into the knot and through the middle there. So that's the configuration there.

And before we snug it, just get it a little tight, a little moisture, let it slide up to the hook, and with that tuck, I would be quite confident with that fishing knot down to the finest of nylons, you know, the one pound and the two pounds nylons that are like so-so, those things break so easily, but they're not going to slip if you get that tuck in the knot or else they're not finished. We're going to use our giant over-sized pliers to cut the knot, there we go. You can use that on hooks that are very small, nylons that are very fine, and that knot is going to do the job for you perfectly.

It's great for fly fishing, it's good for coarse fishing, it's good all around. .
