Hi, I'm Mike and this is Dan, and we're from the Lawn Company. We have a wealth of experience in looking after lawns large and small. We're going to show you some handy tips on how to care for your lawn.

I'm going to show you how to top dress your lawn. The reason for top dressing a lawn is to restore the micro levels. The little tiny hollows that are built up in the lawns surface over the years.

What we need is a top dressing material. This is 100% organic. It's light and fiable and it will be applied to the surface of the lawn and it won't cake when it dries out.

What we're aiming to do is to place a round about, a third of the wheel barrel on the lawn, and then we need a tool to work the top dressing into surface of the lawn. We're looking to apply no more than a quarter of an inch on the surface of the lawn. Now, you start on the corners.

This lawn would have already been seeded. Work the top dressing material back joining up the lines until it looks like it's filled up those hollows. One handy little gadget that professional groundsmen use is what is known as a truelue.

This is a rough side for moving large quantities of top dressing and a really nice smooth side for really getting a nice polish on the surface of the soil. You'll see as I'm working the lue over the lawn that any excessive material is just basically being moved to an area or deposited. There you go, job is almost done.

All you need to now is to sit back and wait for that grass seed to come up, and that's how top dress your lawn. .
