How To Train For A Marathon From Scratch
Anyone can be ready to run a full marathon within a year. After watching this video, you would know exactly what simple steps you need to take to run in a marathon as soon as possible.
In this video, I'm going to talk to you about how to train for a marathon from scratch. Now, if you're a beginner, training for a marathon is quite overwhelming. It's a good idea to break it into stages, for example, doing a 5k race.
If you can do that, maybe a 10k, maybe then a half marathon, then a marathon. Twenty-six point two miles seems a very long way away. Even if you can only run for five ten minutes at a time, you can make it.
The trick is to slowly do more and more every week. The body adapts very quickly. Our bodies are designed to adapt.
If you're a complete beginner, if you're not injured, it should take about a year to get to a marathon level. The trick is to slowly get it harder and harder, going a bit farther, going a bit faster each time. Progressively pushing your body, and then it'll be a piece of cake.
Now in terms of running, even though most of us can run, or do run, we don't do it effectively. And for marathon running, it's really important you have efficient steps. That means your legs and arms aren't being all over the place.
Let me demonstrate. Let's go a little bit faster. A good running technique is efficient.
You're trying not to waste energy. My arms are moving a little bit. My feet are moving a bit, a little bit.
It's very controlled. It should be at a level where I can still talk quite comfortably. This is what running a marathon is like.
Very slow. Very Steady. The biggest mistakes people make are taking too big strides, and you can hear it.
If you can hear your steps, it's not efficient enough. It should be quiet. Nice and quiet.
Head up. Shoulders back. You want to make it look easy.
That's the best way to run. Very slow. Very easy.
Slowly build it up, and within a year, you can be doing a marathon. .
