How To Treat Athlete's Foot

Do your feet itch and burn? Are they red and flaky? Are you embarrassed to take your shoes off in front of other people? Then you may have the embarrassing condition known as athlete's foot. But take heart; it's easy to treat and even easier to prevent. You just have to follow a few simple steps.

Step 1: Anti-Fungals

Athlete's foot is caused by a fungus, and you can buy anti-fungal medication right over the counter . They typically come in spray, cream or ointment form, and all you have to do is use as directed. Some ingredients to look for include: Terbinafine, Clotrimazole and Miconazole.

Step 2: Powders And Natural Fibers

Still itching? Get your feet clean and dry with powder, and keep them clean and dry by wearing natural fibers like cotton and wool! Moisture creates an inviting environment for the fungus that causes athlete's foot, so the drier you are, the less likely you to suffer a recurrence.

Step 3: Protection

Protect yourself from athlete's foot by putting a barrier between your feet and the fungus. Wear shower shoes at the gym, pool or spa. Change your socks regularly. Dry between your toes. Don't share shoes. Your feet will thank you!
