How To Treat Incontinence
Do you leak urine? Do you have problems getting to the bathroom on time? Have you stopped laughing, exercising or even leaving the house because you're afraid you'll have an accident? Then let VideoJug show you how to manage and handle your urinary incontinence so you can get out there and enjoy life!
-
Step 1:
-
Exercise, Exercise, Exercise
-
Strong muscles mean no leaks. Kegel exercises work your pelvic floor and urinary sphincter muscles, helping you control your bladder. Squeeze like you're trying not to urinate, and hold for a count of three. That's it. Squeeze, release. Squeeze, release. You can't overdo it with Kegels, so practice as often as you like.
-
Step 2:
-
Long-Distance Training
-
Train your bladder to hang on, even if you have to go. When you have to urinate, make yourself wait. Time yourself so you have an idea of how long you can go. Keep training until you can go 2 to 4 hours without going to the bathroom.
-
Step 3:
-
Suit Up
-
Don't let your incontinence keep you home. Get a barrier, and get moving! Keep dry with drip collectors, adult diapers, panty liners or waterproof underwear. You can get them in drugstores, supermarkets, or online, if you're shy.
-
Step 4:
-
If All Else Fails….
-
If symptoms continue, please see a doctor. There are many medical treatments for incontinence that will allow you to lead a full and active life.
