How To Treat Peeling Skin

Hate having peeling skin after being in the sun for too long? Emma shows us how to get rid of all of that dead skin and to heal what remains.

Hello, my name is Emma Thompson. I'm an independent beauty expert working alongside Melvita. Melvita is France's largest organically certified brand and a wonderful brand to work with, especially if you have sensitive skin.

And now, we're about to talk about peeling skin, which Simon has after he's exposed himself too much to the sun. Obviously, we'd like to restrict peeling. Peeling is actually an effect where the sun has actually burnt the skin.

So try and avoid it if you can, but if you do get it, here's a way to treat it. Never treat skin that is still burnt and sore. This skin has been healing now for a couple of days and is now ready to get some deep hydration and to encourage the skin to regenerate.

Okay, so the first product we're going to use is this very gentle body scrub. Just apply a little bit of that, you don't need much. So as you can see, this has a very gentle foamy effect.

So it's really a two in one product. It cleanses the skin, but it also exfoliates the skin. Fantastic if you're prepping for a fake tan, which obviously is a little bit safer than going in the sun.

So you'll see, it's gently foaming up now and already you can feel how soft the skin is going to be when we remove that. Again, just applying circular movements and don't drag the skin too much. And now we're ready to rinse.

Now that we have removed most of the dead skin cells, we need to deeply hydrate those that are left so that the healing is happening in the skin. So we're going to apply a little bit to it. You don't need much of this product.

It's very light and I'm going to be applying it to damp skin. Again, that's going to seal in the moisture. So just apply it and if the skin's feeling a little bit sore, you don't need to over do this.

Just pat gently like that. You can use this product whenever you feel a little bit full and dry and hot and it will cool it beautifully. You can also use it on the face and also if you have any redness, any dry patches, just apply this.

A wonder product and it will really help to soothe any kind of skin irritation you might have. Now that we've put the water moisture on, we're going to seal it in with a lovely oil. Fantastic if you're on holiday, because it gives you a gorgeous glow.

So as you can see this is Monoi de Tahiti, which is a very exotic ingredient and it's fantastic for healing the skin and combines carrot oils, but also gives you a lovely glow. All I'm going to do is spray this very, very quickly onto the skin. Again, it looks like a lot of oil, but it's going to be very, very quickly absorbed by the skin.

And what I do with oils is, I always give my client, or myself, a little massage, just to heal the skin. This brings blood to the area and encourages healing, which of course is what we want to do when your skin has been damaged by the sun. So that should be fine and that should really help with healing.

That's how to help treat peeling skin. .
