How To Trim A Lawn

We are going to show you some handy tips on how to care for your lawn. I'm going to show you how to trim your lawn. Now, one of the reasons for trimming your lawn is to get rid of all the grass that has grown from the edges of the lawn into the border.

For this, I'm using a pair of lawn shears, and I'm working from right to left because that's the natural way for me to work. What we are doing is going down just below the lawn level to get rid of clumps of grass such as this, and there you see, it is trimmed a little bit better. Now, all we do is get rid of this debris and this is a task that really needs doing every couple of weeks.

So, at least once a month. If not, all the grass grows into the border. Get rid of the debris into the wheelbarrow.

If you want to reshape the lawn and it's a straight edge that you want to achieve, get a plank or a piece of board. We use a half moon tool and we just basically dig down to create a really nice right angle between the lawn and the flower border. That's a bit of a root there or a stone there, I think.

You don't want to dig away too much of the lawn because over the course of a couple of years, your lawn might disappear. It's just enough to get rid of a nasty edge and just clear the debris out and dispose in the wheelbarrow. There you have got a lovely, nice lawn edge.

If you have got a slightly trickier shape you want to create, you can use the good, old trick of a hose pipe to create a curve. It's always beneficial to weigh down one end of the hose pipe and be careful not to slice the hose pipe in half because it will be fit for nothing after. Stand on the hose pipe.

Be careful not to slice your foot, and then, just literally, press down in the shape of the hose pipe that you have just laid out. Do a little section at a time. It takes a lot more care and attention following a hose pipe than it does a straight board.

Once again, just clear the debris out and now you have got a bit of a curve, and that's how you trim a lawn edge. .
