Step 1: Get A Guitar

There is nothing worse than a guitar that’s out of tune. We have devised an easy twelve-step program to tuning a guitar. To make tuning a guitar even simpler, here are two diagrams to look at. We will show you these again later.

So for Step 1, Get yourself a guitar.

Step 2: Count The Strings

Make sure your guitar has six strings.

Step 3: Find E

Find the note of E.

Step 4: Tune To E

Tune your bottom E string to the note of E. Use this concert pitched E to tune your bottom E string.

Step 5: Tune To A

Tune the A string to the tuned fifth fretted bottom E. With the string above held down on the fifth fret, both strings should sound the same.

Step 6: Tune To D

Tune the D string to the now tuned fifth fretted A. With the string above held down on the fifth fret, both strings should sound the same.

Step 7: Tune To G

Tune the G string to the now tuned fifth fretted D. With the string above held down on the fifth fret, both strings should sound the same.

Step 8: Tune To B

Tune the B to the now tuned fourth fretted G. With the string above held down on the fourth fret, both strings should sound the same.

Step 9: Tune To Top E

Return to the fifth fret, and tune the top E string to the now tuned B string. With the string above held down on the fifth fret, both strings should sound the same.

Step 10: Make The E Chord

Now make an E chord.

    Really funny! But a bit long winded if you tune your guitar often. Better off with a simple web tuner, like http://lifesider.com/jmllifesider/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=45&Itemid=55 (or search "online guitar tuner" on google)I find it quick, easy, and accurate.
