How To Turn A Potato Into A Mushroom

Potato mushrooms make a great decorative side dish to accompany roast meats or fish. Steve Vardt, cookery instructor at the Tideswell School of Food, shows you how to make them in this step by step guide.

Ingredients

  • firm new potatoes

Method

Stick a column cutter or apple corer about 2/3 of the way into the end of the potatoes, then cut halfway along the potato with a knife and rotate it all the way around the cutter. You should be able to pull out the mushroom shaped potato.

The best way to cook them is to roast them with a little bit of butter or oil, and some garlic or rosemary.
