How To Turn Off Auto-Sync If You Have A Mac

Every time you connect your iPod to your computer it automatically syncs with iTunes. Why not customize so you can update manually? Here's how to do it.

Step 1: You Will Need

You will need your iPod, a USB connector cable or dock and a Mac with the latest version of iTunes on it.

Step 2: Get Connected

Connect one end of your USB connector cable or dock into the bottom of your iPod and the other end into the USB port on your computer. Wait for iTunes to launch.

Step 3: Manual Management

When you see the Preferences appear in your iTunes window, choose Manually Manage Music and Videos. If you don't have a video iPod, you can choose Manually Manage Music.

To the left of your iPod in the iTunes source list, you will see a gray triangle. Click on the triangle to view all of the playlists in your iPod.

Step 4: Manual Update

To manually update your iPod, drag a song from your iTunes library and drop it into any of your iPod playlists on the left side of the window.

You don't get any more manual than that!
