How To Unclog A Shower Head

Unclog A Shower Head. Limescale often builds up on showerheads, making it look unsightly and preventing the water from flowing evenly. Jacqueline Hansson, our expert from Amy Cleaners is going to show us how to easily resolve this problem.

Step 1:

You will need

  • rubber gloves
  • a limescale remover product - before you begin read the manufacturers instructions carefully
  • and a metal scourer

Step 2:

Spray and leave

Spray the limescale remover product directly onto the limescaled shower head. It will need a good thick layer. Carefully examine the shower fixings. Spray any other area which has collected limescale deposits. Check with the manufacturers instructions on the packaging to see how long to leave your product on for. It could be anytime from 20 minutes to 1 hour

Step 3:

Scrub off

After the required time return to the grisly limescale scene. Scrub your showerhead with a dry metal scourer. The limescale will easily come away.

Scrub any other areas you have treated with the limescale remover, you will be able to see the results instantly

Step 4:

Rinse and polish

Rinse well with cold water to remove the product and limescale flakes.

Finally polish with a paper towel or soft cloth.

Step 5:

Done

What a result, the shower head looks as good as new and the water runs freely. Thanks Jacqueline

That's insane, you should never use a scourer on shower and bath fittings, they will end up covered in thousands of tiny scratches and it will dull the shine.

I must be curious, as to how this would benifit anyone... That is a 1minute 46second presentation on how to use limescale cleaner, instructions of which can usually be found on the back of the bottle. I would be increadbily if anyone actually learnt something from this video.

Most showers can be easily removed now adays... (even if it's just the shower rose) Throw the attachments any loose bits into a bucket or laundry sink, and add about 1 cup of vinegar and leave for about 1 hour. Use a soft bristle brush and give any parts a quick brush over. Rinse with warm / hot water. Put everything back in place. As usual, wear rubber gloves. After rinsing, dry with paper towels. Good as new! (note - showers have approx 300 million bacteria on them!) If you cannot remove the shower, fil a bottle up with vinegar and spray regularly for 1 hour, then rinse, and polish with handy towels. (If you don't have a spray bottle handy, grab a plastic bag with no holes, put vinegar in it and tie it to your shower head.) Waalllaaa! and the job is done!
