Hi, my name is Sam. I've been a bowler for 20 years and today, we're here at Rowan's Park and today, I'll show you how to bowl. How to understand your bowling machine? Here we are at the back of the machine, that a lot of people don't get to see.

Here's our machine. You'll probably find that when the ball goes through the centre, the sweep will come down. The ball will come to hit the ball cushion.

The pins will come through, along the pin wheel onto the distributor and into the bin shuttle. These particular machines are quite old, nearly 50 years, as you can hear from some of the noises they make. If you know a car that's been running for 50 years, that probably makes quite a lot of noise too.

As you can see, the distributor is running. As the pins come round the pin wheel, they get put onto the distributor, into the specific pin places. Once the 9-pin drops, as you can see now, once it is ready, it will set a new set of 10 pins.

A lot of people think there are only 10 pins per machine, there are actually 20. This is to speed things up and to make you sure that you have your go quicker. .
