A birth chart also known as a natal chart is the chart of the zodiac and the planets' positions in the zodiac signs at your time of birth. So, for instance, you might have moon up there or other planets sort of spread around the whole chart and it really is just a pinpoint of what the map of the stars would be at your time of birth and is very important because astrologist look at that map and look where all the planets are, not just the Sun-Sun that you read in your horoscope. They look at all the planets, moon, Jupiter, Mars, all of them and see where they are in the chart to sort of give an understanding of where you're going.

The thing about the birth chart is because it's a map of the planets, it's not only at your time of birth but we also take into account your place of birth because, obviously, depending on where you are whether you are in Europe or Africa or Australia, the positions of the planets will be slightly different and it's important for an astrologer to calculate this which they use from your time of birth and the latitude and longitude to get an exact representation of where all the planets are. It's a star map essentially but it's a star map that gives you insight into your character and if you look at this graphic of a birth chart, you will see that all the planets are spaced around and notice, for instance, the symbol for the sun which is the little round circle with the dot, is at the top of the chart. This is because this person in this case was born in the day time.

Obviously if the person was born at night time, the sun would be in the bottom half, if you like underneath us. Now, the moon, of course, you can see up in the sky because it's not there during the day, but the moon can be anywhere in the chart. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean isn't there.

So the chart is important because it gives you a fixed identity of your characteristic and the thing about the birth chart is that is the chart that fixes your blueprint, your DNA of yourself. That is the thing that astrologist will always refer to and in fact, there have been all sorts of experiments, recent experiments that showed that certain animals seem to be imprinted with certain types of attributes if they are born at a certain time of the year. So, the thing about astrology is that your birth chart is you, is how you start out, is your potential, is your character, it is your base DNA. .
