Hi, I'm Cherie Birks from Cool Diamonds in London, Hatton Garden, and I'm a goldsmith here and I've been a goldsmith for nearly 10 years and I trained for that in Australia. But apparently, we sell diamonds mounted in platinum, 18-karat white gold and 18-karat yellow gold. I'm here to demonstrate polishing and resizing of rings and diamond jewellery.

So, now I'm going to show you how to use a jewellery cleaning cloth. Just get a piece of jewellery you need to clean and just rub back and forward over the metal that you need to clean. Use a back and forward motion and it will come out much shinier.

This can be used on any types of gold or platinum. Cleaning cloths are readily available from any jewellery supplies. Often when you do buy something like an engagement ring, it will often come with a cleaning cloth complementary but you can just find them online to buy.

They're inexpensive. For at-home polishing, you can get into the cracks and crevices by folding just a bit of the cloth and going back and forward up your sleeve and the more motion that you use, the shinier it will come out. All the metals are much the same to the result that you get from a polishing cloth.

Of course, I would otherwise recommend getting your jewellery professionally cleaned, say, once a year and that will just keep it in good stead. And that's how to use a jewellery cleaning cloth. .
