How To Use A Knitting Board

If you are looking to get started on knitting, here is the Videojug film that guides you on the knitting board and help you design your own designer wear.

In this video tutorial, I will show you how to use a knitting board. To make double-sided knitting with the use of the knitting board, you will need the knitting board, a hook, a length of contrasting yarn, and you will also need a crochet hook and yarn of your choice. We will place our slip knot on the first hook, then we are going to hook the yarn on to the needle which is on diagonal from our first needle, so not the one directly opposite, but the one next to it to your right.

And then, I am going to mount my yarn in a zigzag. I will turn my knitting board around and I will now hook the yarn on to the needle which is directly opposite the last needle on the other side and I will repeat the procedure. This is called anchor yarn and it will help me to pull the stitches down as I am creating more fabric.

It is best to get out of the way so that it is not distracting you. Now, I am ready to repeat the same procedure all over again. When this is done, I am ready to turn my knitting board around once more with the use of the hook, I will bring the stitch which is at the bottom over the top of the stitch above it and I will repeat this procedure on all the needles on this side.

When this side is done, I can turn my knitting board again and repeat this procedure on the other side. I have worked three more rounds, so we now will have little bit of fabric showing at the bottom. We are now ready to cast off.

We will use the crochet hook to cast our stitches off. Now, this is done as follows. We go into the stitch, the last stitch farthest to the right which is closer to us, so at front of the board, and we will slip this stitch off the needle and on to the hook, then we repeat this procedure with the stitch directly opposite.

Then we will take off the stitch which is at the front of the work. When this is done, we have three loops on our crochet hook. I am now going to slip the loop which is closest to the crochet hook to the tip through the remaining two stitches.

When we nearly complete the row, the cast of row there will only be one stitch remaining, so now I am going to take this stitch off the needle and then I am going to draw my working yarn through both stitches. To rectify this, we will now use our crochet to create a neat edge that matches this side of our work. So, I am going to go through three first stitches and just like before, I am going to take the loop which is closest to the crochet hook and bring it through the remaining ones.

When we reach to the point when we only have three last stitches on the crochet hook, we will repeat the same procedure and then we will use our tail to secure the last stitch. And this is how to use the knitting board. .
