How To Use A Metal Cutting Saw

In this video, you will be shown how to use a metal cutting saw and the various different sizes the saw comes in. There are big ones for big jobs and little ones to get into the small spaces.

Now, I'm going to show you how to use a metal cutting saw. As an example, we've got a piece of a hanging rail that we use a lot in making fitted furniture. And you can use different length saws so we've got a small one here.

She's very portable and handy to have. This one also has a kind of long blade that normally fits into something like this. You can see there's a beginning and an end there.

You can unscrew this and pull it out more and position it in ways, say, if you want to cut something really tricky, you can pull that one out and cut into a kind of tight little spot. This one is handy for tight spots and it's very adjustable. The big one, there's just no way you could get it in anywhere tight but cutting something like this where you've got lots of space, the long one is the best one to use.

Okay, so before we cut, it's a good idea to put some goggles on, in case some splinters fly off. So, the best saw to use for this kind of thing is a nice long one with a big handle - makes it easier to cut. So, if you grab roughly where you want to cut, put your hand there and then, as a guide, you can put your finger to start if off and you gently pull backwards and forwards to mark the pipe, and then you can let go.

Move your hand away so it doesn't get cut and then, do long strokes, backwards and forwards. You could do with tightening this a bit more. So, that's how we use the metal cutting saw.
