How To Use A Silver Polishing Cloth
This video shows how to use a silver polishing cloth for your silver jewellery.
Hi, I'm Cherie Birks from Cool Diamonds in London, Hatton Garden, and I'm a goldsmith here and I've been a goldsmith for nearly 10 years and I trained for that in Australia. But apparently, we sell diamonds mounted in platinum, 18-karat white gold and 18-karat yellow gold. I'm here to demonstrate polishing and resizing of rings and diamond jewellery.
Okay. So now, I'm going to show you how to use a silver cleaning cloth. Silver cleaning cloth are usually impregnated with a compound to stop the silver oxidizing which is the tarnish that you'll have on your silver and to use that, literally just get it and rub over your silver back and forward and that would get the tarnish off and re-polish the metal.
You can use the same technique for all of your silver jewellery like earrings and chains. With your chains, just run it along. Try not to pull too hard because often it will stretch the links.
So, just a back and forward motion will be ample. And that's how to use a silver cleaning cloth. .
