Listen to what it says about letting it cool down before packing away. A good way to wreck your trangia is by putting the screw top onto your burner when it's hot - the rubber seal melts onto the burner and clogs small holes around it. I've seen loads of trangias that don't burn properly because of this.

And better than dropping the 'simmer ring' onto the burner to control the flame just take off the windguard and place it on - that trick where the person dangles the simmer ring onto the burner is overcomplicating it. You'll burn yourself sometimes and then end up fishing around to retrieve the simmer ring.

Well, it´s recommended to inform the user about dangers relating to a refill of alc. as long as the burner is still *hot*: NEVER refill any combustible liquids to any hot equipment (as e.g. burners).
Even the flame is off, a larger amount of inflammable gas may emerge. This can be lighted from further ingnition sources around. An explosion could harm you and people around.
Allow hot burners to cool before refilling fuel.
Don´t use Trangia with car fuels.

I tip ive learnt is to put the frying pan on top of the pan when cooking anything as it keeps in the heat and helps it cook faster. ohh and have the frying pan with the sides going up so its easier to get off as well.

The methylated spirit should be diluted with 10-15% water, it saves on fuel and substantially reduces the amount of soot that is deposited on the underside of the pan when cooking.

I can personally vouch for this method.

Fuel - Rather than Meths use Alcool A Bruler 90*, availabe from all big French super-markets, found in amongst the White Spirit etc. Its the same as Meths without the smell but is about 60p a litre rather than over £3 for meths. Burner - I always burn off any remainder as if the Meths leaks out when packed it taints the pans and the next food cooked.
Pans - try leaving the bottoms black. It absorbs the heat quicker, also saves trying to clean that bit.
