This video shows the importance and use of a hoop for stitch embroidery. It also shows various types of simple designs such as circle, square and flowers that can be successfully obtained from using a hoop.
Hi! My name is Aliza from Seam So Easy, www.seamsoeasy.com.
I have been sewing for fifteen years and today I am going to show you some stitches. Today, I am going to show you how to use an embroidery hoop to hoop up your fabric and do some free motion embroidery. You take a piece of fabric you want to be working with and you put it down.
Knee hoop must be different but this one tells us the mechanism where you're buying. You press the two levers together and instead of spins into place, you pull it because your fabric got to be quite tight. The bigger the hoop circle you have, the bigger area you have to work with.
Its weapon happens to be your presser foot where you knock up against the sides. So in this particular hoop, we'll only have this area to work with. So it is sort of middle of the hoop before it starts breaking against the side.
So you use a hoop to do machine embroidery but today, I am going to do some free motion embroidery. So for free motion embroidery, we need to drop the feed docks of the machine and when I mean feed docks, that means instead of draws that prior fabric and pull it long, I have also put on a clear tin foot on there and free motion simply means that your machine, once set to that setting, you can move your needle in which way you would like it to go. So I could, for example, go in a circle or I can do something else with it as well.
I can go in a box shape, in a square. The nice part this sort of embroidery also is called drawing with your needle because you can get any sort of effect with it. I'm also going to do little flowers.
You see the possibilities of this. I am going to go twice along the middle and then you cut it. That's free motion embroidery.
The hoop just keeps everything straight so that at the end of it, you have the finished product. .
