Bike security tips from an expert. This video shows you how you can maintain and keep your bike safe.
Hello, my name is John from On Your Bike in London. I have been a bike mechanic for twelve years. I am going to show you a few things about bikes, things like setting height and setting it up besides the correct size and a few maintenance tips as well.
This is how to use a bike lock if you undo it, then you let it with the bar. Place that with the back of the bike so that way, it protects the frame, the back wheel and then you put it through a post or something substantial, something which can't be cut, metal railings, etc. and then the lock goes on and then locks in place.
If you want to make it more secure or if you have got a quick release wheel or a wheel which comes out quite easily, then it's better to use an extension at this which just fits around the day lock and then you can put that to the front wheel or any upper items and just makes it more secure and then that's locked with the same lock and the same key. This is a cable lock, this again, we run through the back of the bike through the frame, through the back wheel, and then attach it to something solid and then if you got a quick release or an easy wheel to come out, you could use an extension, put that onto there and run that to the front wheel and back again, just to secure your front wheel. When you are purchasing a lock, it will have a security writing on the lock to tell you how strong or how secure that lock is and the best one's tend to be the day locks cause they are harder, the steel are harder to cut rather than a chain which could be broken with a saw and taken a bit more easily. .
