How To Use Curling Tongs

Using curling tongs is easy if you use it in the right way. Follow our expert from Fall tricks Salon in this step by step video. Create that hair style that you've always wanted. Learn how to use curling tongs.

Step 1:

You will need

  • Curling tongs
  • Heat Protective serum
  • A rounded hair brush
  • A hair dryer
  • Hair spray
  • Wide-toothed comb

Step 2:

Curling Tongs

There are a wide variety of curling tongs available. Thick curling tongs create big curls and slim tongs produce small, defined curls.

Step 3:

Clean and straighten

Start with clean, dry hair. If you have a natural curl to your hair, straighten it while you are blow drying, or use straighteners. Straight hair will ensure your curls are consistent and smooth.

Step 4:

Curling tong preparation

The manufacturers instructions will tell you how long your tongs need to heat up. Make sure they are on a non-flammable surface, and remember they will remain hot for some time after they are turned off.

Step 5:

Using the curling tongs

Partition your hair into long, vertical sections. Take hold of one section and apply some heat protective serum. Place the section into the curling tongs and close them. Then, slowly pull the tongs to the end of the section. Roll the tongs back towards your head and hold for 10 seconds.

Warning: be very careful not to burn your hair or scalp.

Open the tongs, allowing the hair to slip out.

Repeat this step until you have achieved your desired amount of curls. This will take some time.

Step 6:

Styling

If you don't like thick, condensed curls, use a wide toothed comb to gently loosen them.

She looked so ugly afterwards! It would take a long time to do that but she should have used bigger curls not ringlets.

what are these people thinking. it look so fake and the way they do it with the serum and little pieces of hair is going to take forever to curl your whole head. and your not even suppose to roll it from the bottom to top since the more you roll the top won't feel any heat. your suppose to clip it from the top and slide it down . wowwwww these people don't know what their doing.
