How To Use Hair Putty

This Videojug film gives some very interesting information and tips on how to apply hair putty. It's a great product especially if your hair is thin or fine.

On this video, I'll be showing you how to use hair putty. The product I'm going to be using today is Fudge Putt Heads. The only reason I'm using this product is because it's slightly drier and a little bit lighter hold compared to some of the other products on the market, purely because of the length of my model's hair I've got in front of me.

If your hair's shorter, you can use something a little bit stickier and tackier. But for the model in front of me, I'm going to be using a small amount of this product. So, you've got it on your hands, rub it between your hands until you can't see it.

When you've got long hair, use the back of your hands to pull your hair forward and then rub the product through the hair. Putty's really good for building up texture and a bit more roughness but it's still touchable. Your hair can still be touched and manipulated through the night.

As you can see, it lifts your layers and gives you a little bit of texture through the front. If your hair's short or you've got really short hair as in a man's hair, the best technique is if you scratch your head, just rough your hair all the way through. Start big and then go in little bit more direction as to where you want your hair to sit.

With the model I've got in front of me, just see, I'm just roughing up all her layers, you've still got it on your hands. This putty is quite sticky so literally just use what you've got on there just to build up a bit more texture, this will give you fantastic hold. When you've used that, if you want to finish with a hairspray, you can, which I'm going to do just to kind of set the style.

The key point with putty is that it can be reused all through the night. You don't have to put any more product on. Just kind of reactivate it by roughing your hands back through and also, you can see the model there, I've got all the texture and roughness through the front all the way through to the ends.

And that is how you use hair putty.
