How To Use Kettle Bells
This is a great video for introducing beginners to kettle bells and basic kettle bell exercises. There are many kettle bell exercises designed to tone many different muscles on the body.
Kettle bells are a really growing type of exercise to do. They're really good because you burn a lot of calories but you also turn up your body, and the movements are quite ballistic, much more functional, than traditional bodybuilding-type exercises. Today, I'm going to show you two exercises for beginners to introduce you to some kettle bell movements.
The first one we're going to do is the one-handed swing, with a hand swap. Let me show you. As you can see, it's quite hard to grasp.
It's a little bit more coordination than keeping hold of the kettle bell all the time, so you're improving that as well. If you're very advanced, you can actually spin it around and then catch it. Next, I'm going to show you the Windmill.
Now, the Windmill is a fantastic exercise, working the core and obliques. I'll show you first, then, I'll explain it. Okay.
First of all, my feet, I start off flat, then, I turn 45 degrees to the side. Next, my bum, stick it out. Then, the weight, I keep my arm up straight and I keep my vision looking at the kettle bell.
This is really important. If you don't look at it, it will fall off behind you. So you keep looking, and then you slowly, with the other hand, reach down your leg.
Again, don't look at the floor, the weight will drop. Always keep looking at your arm. Like I said, the Windmill is really good for toning the sides, and also getting more functionally strong around your core.
So now, there are two exercises, there are actually hundreds of different kettle bell exercises. The best thing to do, go to your local gym, talk to your instructor and try some things out. This really is a great way of training. .
