Step 1: Writing a note

Go to www.facebook.com, log in, and click on ‘Notes' on the left hand side of your profile. Facebook will inform you if your friends have written any notes, which you can click on to view. Click on ‘write your own' to begin writing your own notes. First of all give it a title, and then begin to fill out the body of the note. Once you have written your note, if you want to format it go to ‘format your note' beneath the text box. Here Facebook will give you HTML codes that you will need to copy and paste into your text in order to format certain parts.

Step 2: Upload photo

If you like, you can upload a photo to your note. Click on ‘choose file' beneath your note, choose a photo from your hard drive and click ‘upload'.

Step 3: Tagging people

If you want to tag people in the note, type in the name of the person in the ‘tag people in this note' section on the right hand side of the page. Your friends will be notified they have been tagged in your note. You will also be notified if you have been tagged in somebody else's note.

Step 4: Publish the note

Once you are happy with your note, click on ‘publish' at the bottom.

Step 5: Importing a blog

To import a blog from another website, click on ‘import a blog' on the right hand side of the notes profile under ‘notes settings'. Once you import a blog, it will appear along with your notes. To do this, first of all go to the original source of your blog. Then copy the webpage URL address, and paste it into the webpage URL section. Tick the box allowing Facebook to reproduce the content, and click ‘start importing'. Your imported blog will now appear under your profile.

Step 6: Notes privacy

You can adjust the privacy settings for your notes by clicking on ‘edit notes privacy'. If you scroll down you can select if you let everybody see your notes, all of your networks and friends, some of your networks and all of your friends, only your friends, or only you.
