How To Use Silver Dip
Removing tarnish from silver using a silver dip is shown in this short video.
Hi, I'm Cherie Birks from Cool Diamonds in London, Hatton Garden, and I'm a goldsmith here and I've been a goldsmith for nearly 10 years and I trained for that in Australia. But apparently, we sell diamonds mounted in platinum, 18-karat white gold and 18-karat yellow gold. I'm here to demonstrate polishing and resizing of rings and diamond jewellery.
So, I'm going to show you how to remove tarnish from sterling silver using a silver dip. Very very straightforward, just get your silver that you need to remove tarnish from and literally just dip it in and swish it around. It doesn't need to be in there for too long.
If there are any intricate gaps or anything, you can get a brush and just brush in there and the dirt will come out. That's because it's liquid all getting into the gaps anyway. And then, give it a really really good rinse and make sure you've got all the products off.
With silver dips, if you don't rinse the product off properly, when it does tarnish again, it will actually be worse than what it was to start with so make sure you give it a really really good proper rinse. And then, just dry with soft cotton cloth. And that's how to clean silver jewellery with a silver dip. .
