How To Use Tans For Body Art

Tattoos are so five years ago. You've pierced everything you want to pierce. Henna is over. But you're not quite ready to give up on body modification just yet….but what's left? Body art through tanning! It's cute, it's temporary, and it's fun!

Step 1: You will need

  • tanning stickers

Step 2: Design

Pick your design. It can be as simple as a heart or as complicated as a gothic stencil. You can buy special tanning stickers at a tanning salon or novelty store or you can make your own with paper and skin-friendly adhesive. You can download stencil patterns from the Internet or buy them from your local craft store. And if your tanning salon doesn't carry skin-friendly adhesive, check out beauty supply stores, medical supply stores, or costume shops. Be as creative as you want to be. It's up to you.

Step 3: Affix

Place your tanning aid on your body and stick it on firmly. Make sure that it's exactly where you want it and that it won't move around too easily. Experiment. Have fun. Nothing's set in stone until the tanning begins.

Step 4: Tan

Get a tan. Almost any method with do - the sun, a tanning bed, a spray tan - but home self-tanners may not give you the sharp edges that other methods will.

Step 5: Peel

Peel the sticker off and wait. As your tan kicks in, your body art will emerge.
