How To Use Warhammer Paint

There are many types of Warhammer paints. Some paints have to be watered down a bit to give a good effect but foundations paints do not have to be watered down.
I'm going to show you how to use the Warhammer paint. They come in three types. You've got your foundation type which is a heavily pigmented color.
I find that this astronomican grey is good as an undercoat but you do get various colours. For instance, there is a red foundation color there which can be used if you're doing a big blood angel army then you just undercoat with the red. The second and most different amount of colors come in the standard paint which is this one.
I do think that they very recently changed over so the pots will look like this rather than this now but you will see one of them is just color and the other one is foundation so make sure you get in the color rather than the foundation. The final type is the Citadel. This is called so wash so basically, it's almost like an ink rather than paint and that's just pretty watered down paint to do washes with.
I find that the black's quite handy although to be honest, I find it's bad to mix with your own washes yourself with the standard colors. One thing that I would say that was pretty vital is with all of these colors, don't use the paint straight out of the pot, it's too thick, use a palette to just water the colors down. You've also got your metallic paints, now these paints have actually got tiny particles of - I don't really know what it is but it has a metallic shine to it.
What you've got to make sure when you're cleaning your brushes is have a water for your metallics and a water for your non-metallics because if they mix up together, everything will end up being sparkly and that's a bit of an issue so before you open the paint to use it, give it a good shake and then you'll find actually, when you open the lid, you'll have a fair amount of paint in the top there, which can be taken off with the edge of the brush like that and then put on to the palette. Obviously, you don't really want to be dipping your brush into the pot itself because you'll get paint all over the place. I'm just going to show you how to actually use this paint so I'll just show you with this.
This is a vermin brown color, give the pot a little shake there and I'm just taking a little bit of paint out of the lid there, putting that on to the palette and adding a little bit of water there. Obviously, with the foundation paint, you wouldn't need to do that, you don't really need to water that down and then basically, putting the paint on to the figure like so. Obviously, if you're painting a very fine area, then you don't want to load up the brush with too much paint so if you find that you're doing that, just wipe a bit off.
And that's how you use a Warhammer paint. .
