How To Use Your iPod As A Hard Drive If You Have A Mac
Your iPod is basically a hard disk, so, in addition to music and video, you can use it to store all kinds of text and graphic files, too. Follow these simple steps and learn how to tell your iPod how act like the hard disk it really is.
Step 1: You Will Need
You will need your iPod, a USB connector cable or dock and a computer with the latest version of iTunes on it.
Step 2: Get Connected
Plug one end of your USB connector cable or dock into the bottom of your iPod and the other end into the USB port on your computer and wait for iTunes to launch.
Step 3: Enable Disk
When your iPod Preferences window appears, go to the Summary screen and check the box to Enable The Hard Disk.
Remember, if you have the Auto-Update feature turned off, you will not have to turn on the Enable Hard Disk feature.
If your iPod Update feature is set to Manual, the Enable Disk feature is on by default.
Step 4: Drag And Drop Your Files
You will now see your iPod on your desktop. You can drag and drop your files onto your iPod icon just like any hard drive.
When you are finished, control click to manually eject your iPod from your desktop.
Now you can carry your files with you wherever you go.
