I need to show this to both my sisters-in-law. I live in my heels and they give out to me, telling me how bad they are. However I'm the only one with good posture as you have to walk upright in heels and can't slouch as they do in their TRAINERS which they live in!

As a guy, this made me think on two points: 1) I cringed when I saw the man dragging his unfortunate girlfriend along-- how many times I've been that inconsiderate! 2) I would be terrified going up and down stairs like that. Who invented these things?

I TAKE ISSUE with the directive to walk upstairs on the balls of the feet. I've heard this before, and it's an asinine idea. I've seen people walking upstairs using only the balls of their feet lose their balance and fall backwards down the stairs. So always, always plant the entire foot, including the heel, on the step. This takes more energy than the other way, so take it slow.

And in that spirit, it isn't completely asinine to walk up stairs on just the balls of the feet - if the whole foot works for you, more power to ya', but I for one jog up stairs on the balls of my feet and (knock on wood) haven't had a problem yet... thanks videojug!

If you're going to teach how to walk in heels, perhaps you should find some that fit. Seeing knobby toes leaking out the front and sides of shoes is NOT attractive.

some good advice, but perhaps you should cover care of feet andankles when starting out with heels. starting with lower heels, practice, practice, practice. however pain may be felt in calves and ankles, what excersises to include to relieve this and what toexpect. selection of heel types and height. what to do and what not to do when developming oneinto hieghts greater than 75mm and when to move up to 100 and 120 mm. while higher heels look attractive, they may cause harm to a novice wearer. (and bent knes or knees ahead of ankles looks terriblea)
