How To Wash A Car

How To Wash A Car

Wash A Car. Discover how to wash a car effectively with the right products and technique. Get that car looking as good as new within minutes!

You will need

  • 1 bucket
  • 1 water hose
  • hot tap water
  • 1 car detergent
  • 1 tyre cleaner
  • 1 glass cleaner
  • 1 sponge
  • 1 cloth
  • 1 squeegee
  • 1 leather

Step 1:

Secure the vehicle

Park the car on a level surface in the shade.
It's best to keep it out of direct sunlight. Washing a car while the surface is still hot means the soap can dry too fast and stick to the paintwork.
If it's a manual car put on the handbrake and shift into first gear,
And in automatic cars shift the gear stick into the parking position.

Step 2:

Assemble all your tools

While waiting for the surface to cool down from the sun's or engine's heat, get together all the tools. Connect your water hose to a tap and make sure there is decent pressure on the hose.

Step 3:

Apply tyre cleaner to the wheels

First apply the spray foam to the car's tyres and let it soak in for a few minutes.

Next, clean the tyres and hub caps with the soft brush.

SAFETY WARNING! Protect the environment and avoid any water contamination from possible toxic substances. Where possible work over a drain.

Step 4:

Clean all the windows

Remove all dirt and grime from the glass with the soaked sponge. Lift the wipers carefully in order to properly clean the entire window area.

Step 5:

Fill the bucket

Use hot water, preferably, for filling up the bucket. Add the car washing detergent. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to get the right ratios of shampoo to water.

Step 6:

Wash the roof

Start by soaking the sponge with detergent.
Next wash the roof of the car by moving the sponge in wide, circular motions, making sure to cover the entire surface of the roof area.

Step 7:

Rinse and soak the sponge

Squeeze out dirty water from the sponge and soak it again by dipping it into the bucket.

Step 8:

Clean all the windows

Remove all dirt and grime from the glass with the soaked sponge. Lift the wipers carefully in order to properly clean the entire window area

Step 9:

Clean the bonnet and the boot

Next, focus on the bonnet's surface cleaning it with wide circular motions. Clean the boot in the same way.

Step 10:

Rinse the entire top area

Use water from the hose to thoroughly rinse the entire top area of the car.

Step 11:

Change the water

Empty out the dirty water and fill up the bucket with clean water and washing detergent.

Step 12:

Clean back bumper area

Wash the back of the car, using wide circular motions in the area below the boot. Clean all lights and the back bumper.

Step 13:

Clean the sides

Move around the sides of the vehicle, washing the entire area thoroughly.
Take care to wash door handles and mirrors.

Step 14:

Clean front bumper area

Move to the front and wash all lights and the entire front bumper area.
SAFETY WARNING !
Number plates can have sharp edges which can cause cuts. Take extra care when washing around them.

Step 15:

Rinse the entire car

Rinse the car's entire surface once all areas have been thoroughly cleaned.

Step 16:

Dry the surface

Dry the windows with the squeegee. Use the leather to carefully wipe up all the water. Drying with a leather is the best way to avoid water spots. Begin this job at the top of the car and move downwards from there.
Squeeze water out of the leather when it is soaked and work your way around the entire car, drying everything properly. Open the doors and wipe up any water that may have got in.

Step 17:

Use glass cleaner

Use a good, quality glass cleaner and an absorbent rag to wash all of the windows and mirrors if necessary.
After you've had a little bit of exercise by washing your car – you can now stand back and enjoy your new-look shiny car.
And that's how to wash a car - the Videojug way !

Yes English which funnily enough originates from England ironically the bloke narrating is from England using English wording 'Boot' 'Tyre' 'Number' all the latter words are English which are used in England funnily enough like I said the language originates from England so ask yourself the same question is he using English? Typical American Bumb ****

    Anonymous  (408 days ago)

ever heard of english? there isn't, and has never been a "y" in the word "tire." what the hell is a "boot" on a car? also, it's called a license plate, NOT a "number" plate. this guy is just like chicks--does NOT know how to wash a car. you should only wash a fender or bumper at a time (soap will dry too fast). also, why the HELL would you use window cleaner AFTER you've already cleaned the entire car with soap!? it's pointless. it will leave streakmarks from all the drips.

What a crap video. There is one step missing. "Step 18: After drying car, drive car out to the sun and admire the swirls you have just created"

A very good example of how NOT to wash your car....

This video should be removed. Pathetic advice

    Anonymous  (411 days ago)

It's me again. I'm sorry - but I just have to correct the hopeless advice on this video. Number 1) Do NOT use a sponge. It will trap dirt and by rubbing that on your car, you will inflict swirls that only a professional will be able to remove. 2) Do NOT use circular patterns. Use straight lines. 3) Do NOT use one bucket. Use two. 4) Do NOT squeeze your sponge into the bucket that you're washing with. Think about it. Dirty sponge squeezed into the same bucket you are washing with equals dirty water. Where is that water going? Yes, that's right - back on your car. 5) Do NOT use a brush. Same reason as a sponge. 6) Do NOT use a leather, same reason as above. 7) Drying with a leather is not the best way to avoid water spots, it's the best way to induce scratches and swirls. That's how to clean a car the 'proper' way.
