I'm Rudy and I work for Son of a Stag. Son of a Stag works for different denim brands as a consultant and has a store in London. We're going to show you how to look after your jeans and get the best from them.

I'm going to show you how to wash jeans. We don't know where to start now because there are many permutations. So first of all on girls' jeans and men's jeans, there is a slight difference and that is girls want to keep their shape in particular so if you want to keep your shape, you want it coming in all the time, you need to do frequent washes.

Obviously, that fades the color down. Now, some girls may want that or guys in particular want it. You want to keep the color as true as possible.

In other cases, you want it to fade down more. Let me give you an example of what can happen to a pair of jeans. This is supposed to happen so it is not the manufacturer's fault.

This is one of our best selling jeans. It's a pair of Edman jeans, and unless you got a particular, salvaging the fabric is called rainbow salvage. It is recognized by the colors on the inside.

Now, the little trick on this one is that is to make sure you put a black tint on top of indigo. It's a green dye and they put a black tint on top. What actually happens is when you wash it, the indigo is so strong it comes to the surface and sits on top of that pair of jeans and becomes a blue pair of jeans.

Now, this is the same pair but has been washed many many many times and it gives you that blue feel. This is a pair of repaired jeans we are working on for someone. But it shows you what happens to a pair of jeans, this is a one rinse, so basically this jean would have been more that sort of colour.

They are 2 different brands but to show you the difference, you have a pair of my jeans that have never been washed, so you wash it on the one rinse, it will go blue like that. So, you need to be aware of what happens to your jeans when you wash it. Now, you can control the way your jeans are so if you want to keep them as blue and as dark as they were in the beginning, then you need to make sure that you wash them as frequently as possible.

Many people out there and I laugh as I say this because I am in that same boat, we never wash our jeans and then air dry them but we will get to that another time. For the moment, this washing jeans, what you want to do is you are going to try to keep the color as true as possible. You will actually put as less detergent as you can in it and keep the temperature of the water down as low as possible and you hand wash them if possible.

In a washing machine on a delicate cycle and the trick is use a tiny little drop of shower gel or shampoo because that is for your body and that is the mildest form of soap so don't use a heavy detergent. And that's how you wash your jeans. .
