This Videojug film was created to teach you the correct way to prepare your surfboard for optimum surfing results. Waxing is a very important part of this process because it provides traction and a reliable grip for your surfboard. Wax up correctly and enjoy the waves!
In this video, I'm going to show you how to wax a surf board. So, get your wax, all different makes in many local surf shops, or you can order on the internet. And it's important, when you buy your wax, to know how hot the water is or where you're going to surf, so if you're going to board to the tropics or anything like that, you can actually get tropical wax or cold water wax or warm water wax.
Okay, so when you go into little surf shops, make sure you ask them, you know, what wax you need for where you're traveling, or where you're surfing at that day or you know. So I got my wax, all ready to go, got my board, all cleaned off. It did have wax in it so I've used the wax comb, taking all the wax off, wiped it all down so it's ready to go.
So, take your wax out of your box, so what we do is, you can actually just draw lines across the board, so actually do it about 3 cm apart all the way across your board. Forget your tail pad; you don't need to wax your tail pad, okay, that's going to give you traction and grip, anyway. So you don't need to wax the tail pad.
So, basically, our wax here is going to give us traction for our front foot. So, our front foot is never going to go past this point on your surfboard, okay. That's the reason why I'm just waxing this part here.
So I've gone this way along the board and now, I'm going to go diagonally. So, go grab your board, go across again, exactly like you did on the other side. Okay, so now, we're at this stage now, stick that there.
So, now, we're at this stage now, I'm actually just getting to it now. Lean over the board and in small circular motions, apply the wax. So, try to get it even from the top of where you're waxing to the bottom of the board where you're waxing, in small circular motions, like so.
Okay, that's going to be enough now for my first surf. So, remember, keep your wax, put it back in your box so you're ready for the next surf. So, every time you go surfing, remember to wax your board up because the wax will lose its stickiness in and out of the water, your feet trampling up and down the board.
So, that's how to wax a surfboard. .
