How To Wax Your Legs

Beauty therapist Victoria Nash shows you how to wax your legs using hot strip wax to get a salon-effect finish.

Step 1: Prepare the skin

Victoria recommends using hot strip wax from a pot which can be heated in the microwave or a saucepan. Cleanse the legs with diluted surgical spirit, witch hazel or soap and water.

Step 2: Apply the wax

Once the wax is heated, check the temperature by applying it to your wrist and removing with a strip of cloth. Apply the wax with a spatula, running down the leg with the direction of hair growth. Rub the strip of cloth onto the leg and remove it in a quick motion going against the growth of the hair. Try not to lift the strip as this will break the hair or lift the skin. Avoid waxing the same area twice. Remove left over hairs with tweezers.

Step 3: Knees

Bend your leg to tighten the skin around the knee which will prevent the skin being pulled when you remove the wax. Work in small sections.

Step 4: Remove left over wax

There may be some wax debris left on your skin. To remove it use some olive, almond, lavender or teatree oil. Apply antiseptic cream to each leg to close the pores and minimise irritation.
