We've been making wedding dresses for the last 10 years and we're going to show you some of our top tips for finding your perfect dress and accessorizing it. In this video, I'm going to show you how to wear a birdcage veil.

First of all, you need to decide if it actually suits the dress that you're wearing. So if you're going for something like a 1920's or 30's style dress, then this is perfect because it suits the era. If you've got quite an overcomplicated dress, I'd probably say not to wear a birdcage veil because it might look too much.

If you've got a plain ivory dress like this, then the birdcage veil would be the perfect accessory. The next thing to do, you need to decide if you want to wear it all day. With the traditional veil, you actually take it off when you go into your wedding breakfast, but sometimes with the birdcage veil, you can actually keep it on all day, so that's another thing you need to decide because that would really help me determine what hair style you'll have.

So when you put a birdcage veil, you need to make sure that you have a side parting in your hair, otherwise if you have a middle parting, then when you actually wear it on the side, it just looks unsymmetrical. So what you need to do is make sure that you have your hair parting to the side. You can actually wear your hair down like this.

So when you actually put the veil in like that, it's good that the veil should go over your face and then you can actually have your hair down like that. The other way to wear it is by having it in your hair and bringing this round and swept up to the side, so it's more of a statement 1930's style. And what your hairdresser will do is actually pin the veil in just to keep it secure.

You don't have to have it in on like a wicker hat like this, they come in all different shapes and sizes. This is actually quite a big birdcage veil. Another thing you need to decide is what jewelry you're going to have because this really is the statement piece of your wedding dress, so you don't want really long earrings or really big necklaces.
