How To Wear A Black Dress
We have to imagine that our black dress is a blank canvas. To that canvas, we have to add colour, which means to add colourful accessories like a necklace, a beautiful big colourful ring and of course the colourful arm accessories may be added. To add more, we can make use of the colourful shoes and handbags that will give our little black dress a really good and new look.
Hi, I'm Claire Wacey and I'm a personal stylist and I'm going to give you some style tips today. For any style tips that you need that you don't find on these videos, go to my website, 'www.clairewacey.
com'. Hi. Today I'm going to talk to you about how to wear a black dress.
Now, every woman has to have and LBD, that little black dress, sitting in their wardrobe, waiting for the occasion that requires it. The really good thing with the little black dresses is that they come in all shapes and sizes. So there's one out there for absolutely everyone.
And I've got a selection here -I've got an evening one, a work shift dress, a maxi and then we've got a lacy number for that get up and go. So really they come in all shapes and sizes. So the most important thing when you are wearing your black dress is to make your black dress stand out and to make you stand out in the crowd.
Now, the really easy way of doing that is to accessorize. A black dress is basically a blank canvas for any type of accessories you want to wear or create a look for. A choice of really statement necklace here is a really simple jersey black dress great for evening but also it can be turned into a daily quite simply.
So this is all glam evening look. Now go for statement necklace, feel free to add colour, volume, you know you could have feathers. It can really be anything you want to create that 'wow' factor with the dress.
A really great take as well is if you've got a slightly higher neck dress or something that you really want to make yourself look a little bit simmering you could add a long necklace so the long necklace, if I take this one off, a long necklace can really break up the body vertically and make you look slimmer and taller which is always a bonus when you are wearing a little black dress. So just adding a long necklace along the centre of your body can create that column, elongates the body, makes you look slimmer but also adds that statement at the same time. Other really simple ways of using a black dress are to add a coloured belt.
Now there are so many coloured belts on the high street. It really is take your pick on what colour you want but go for something vibrant or something that really stands out. Now the classic is always the black and red option so go for something which may be patent.
It's really going stand out and also when you're doing a patent belt with it, they don't go with the same colour and the same patent on the shoes. Mix it up, add a third colour or add a second colour, third colour. Really keep going and adding the colours because it makes your dress look much more exciting.
If you're going for a red belt, maybe try a purple shoe or even a mustard yellow shoe. So go for something really crazy. The more colours you add, the more interest you're adding to a really simple dress.
Another really great way about doing excitement to your look is to add more exciting jewellery, so a really chunky necklace if you're just doing a simple evening dress or a really nice cocktail ring can just add that little bit of 'bababoom' to a really simple black dress. Then you have the shoes. You really have to go exciting when you are wearing a black dress I think on shoes.
Now it's a black canvas, so you've got to have something that's standing out. I usually opt for shoes and a clutch and I usually go completely contrasting colours. So if I've got pink shoes, I might go for a yellow clutch or a green clutch, whatever you want.
And it's really important to get that contrast and that excitement to make your black dress current this season and for the seasons coming. Last and by no means least, if you're working and you're using your black dress, a really good way of adding excitement, you've got to keep it quite staid and sensible, is to add a coloured tight. So you don't have to go too out there, you can choose like a plum which isn't too far away from black or you can go for a reall
