How To Wear A Coat Dress

Hi. I'm Zoe Lem, stylist and owner of My Sugarland, and today I'm going to give some insider's tips on how to do fashion. I'm now going to show you how wear a coat dress.

So, accessorising, you can do this for evening but this kind of matt fabric is a little more daytime so we're going to dress it up. This is already nipped in the waist but you can really highlight that and go for a belt on top. The yellow can be difficult to wear and people aren't always sure what colour to put with it but if you go toner and do tones of the same colour, then it can work really well.

You don't want to do flat cold yellow but if you go with the warm tones of camel and mustard, then it can be quite flattering and the gold to brighten it up. So we've got the suede belt that highlights the waist a little more. Kitten heels which are really on trend, these are sandal-ly and look great still with ties over the top so you can do a darker type even like a navy underneath.

You've got the gold so again it's bringing out the tones of the same colour but it's brightening. The satin, again, reflective or if you want to go with flats in the daytime, go for a pump and again bring a colour, a warm tone. Bring that out for the jewellery so you can add a bit of sparkles to your face.

Golds really brighten the eyes. Okay, so if you want to add another colour, a navy is really great with a mustard and though this is a coat dress, you can put a coat over the top because it's not too chunky. This isn't too thick, it's not too heavy but again the layering can work really well.

So though this is a coat going over a coat dress, it can work really well, neither layer is too heavy. It's not too thick, thick a coat but the matt shape again working with this 40's style, nipping it at the waist A-line but the navy with the mustard can work really well. Then to balance out in the colour, you can go for a navy belt, if you're going for a pick out on the navy coat or if you're going to keep it toner, you can go for the yellow bag.

Again it's a snakeskin, really great, it's got a chain really versatile but again it's a way of bringing again those colours. And then for the scarf, if yellow brews the colour for you and you don't want to put too close to your face then for the navy scarf. If it works for you and you're going to tone, then the yellow is great depending on what's going to brighten your face and will lift the eyes.
