clairewacey.com. Hi.
I'm here to talk to you about how to choose a designer dress. Now, if you've got the money in your wallet to pay that expensive amount of money for that designer dress, then I envy you, and because designer dresses are really very expensive. So when you're spending that money, you really want to know that you're getting something that's going to last for a really long time.
And so the important thing is to buy something that is relative to your body shape: something that's going to stand the test of time and be really classic. And the classic shapes stay in fashion, so that's always the best way to go. Now whether you're going for evening or day, it's really important to think about those shapes that suit your figure best, so I'm just going to talk through the shapes that would just work for different figures.
Now this is a really great dress, and it's obviously a silk dress, a really good example of what a designer dress is like. But what you want to do is remember what part of your body you're accentuating. So this would work really well for an hour-glass.
It would also work really well for an apple shape, the reason being because it's got all this pleating detail, which means you exaggerate your waist if you're an hour-glass, but the pleating would cover up a slightly larger tummy if you're an apple shape. But the fact that it's a really classic shape means that it won't go out of fashion, and you can jazz it up with different accessories over the years. If you going for something that's of the moment, then you really need to make sure that it fits you and you can wear it as much as you can.
So, for example, a strapless dress like this is obviously for an occasion, but you need to make sure that you can make it versatile for you. So as a stand-alone dress it works really really well, but how can you make it much more exciting and take it from just an evening dress to a day dress? And what I'd say is you can put a cardigan over the top of it; you could cinch it in at the waist; you could add layering underneath it, or you could wear it with tights; you could wear it over skinny jeans. So you've really got to think about a designer dress before you invest all that money, in how it's going to work for you.
Is it going to work for work, for home, for play? So you really need to have those tick boxes in your head. But when you are going to buy a designer dress, make sure that you love the designer, you've done your homework and you're sure that the designer's dress is of the current season, and make sure that it's a classic shape for them, so you know that you can wear it season upon season, and it'll take you in the next few years into that evening wear and into day wear. So when you're buying your designer dress, don't think scary thoughts about the money, just think about the fact that it's got to work for you in so many different ways.
Thank you. .
