In this video, we take a trip with experienced wedding makers Elle & Charlotte as they give us a quick and helpful tutorial on how to buy and wear long wedding dress veils.
Hello, I'm Elle. And I'm Charlotte, and we own a bridal boutique in Southwest London called Elle & Charlotte. We've been making wedding dresses for the last ten years and we're going to show you some of our top tips on finding your perfect dress and accessorizing.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to wear a long veil. So, you've got two options. Whether you want to wear the veil over your face, if you do, then the veil has to sit high and it has to be a two tiered veil.
So that's option one that you need to decide. Or if you don't want to wear it over your face, are you going to have it sitting right on top of your head or are you going to have it sitting here? Or if you have your hair up in like a bee hive or a sort of a french curl, are you going to have the veil sitting there? So you need to work out how you're going to have your hair on your wedding day. Once you've worked that out then you can determine the length of your veil.
So I've just used the example with this two-tier veil. If you're going to have your veil here, it's recommended when you have your wedding dress fitting to measure from the top of where you're going to have your veil all the way down to where the end of the train finishes. So there's two options with the length: You either have the length going all the way to the bottom of the dress so then when you're actually walking down the isle, the train will come out further than the veil, or the other option is to have the extra long length that will trail over your wedding dress -this is more if you're getting married in a really big church and you've got a long way to walk or if you want sort of more drama- but usually the most popular length is to have it just on the edge of the train.
So the most important thing is to work out where you're going to have your veil, how you're going to have your hair, and then when you have your dress fitting, measure exactly what length you need and your dress maker or the shop assistant who's selling you your dress will help you with that. So, that's how to wear a long veil! .
