Hi. I'm Zoe Lem, stylist and owner of My Sugarland, and today, I'm going to give you some insider's tips on how to do fashion. I'm now going to show you how to wear a short sleeve jacket.

So, always a bit of confusion how to wear them because they can look great and when it's winter, you can get cold. A lot of vintage jackets have short sleeves as well, so it's really about how to wear them, make them work even when it's cold weather. They can be quite flattering because the same as with a leg or any part of your body, where you draw the line, is you want to draw it in the smallest part of your body.

So, with arms just above the elbow or just below the elbow is a really flattering place to nip in. Also, it can add really nice shape to the shoulders and the balance through the hips. So, it's a flattering length but it's really just to make it work.

This is a great jacket because it's got a slightly bell-shaped sleeve so it's flattering. You've got the gathering here and then you've got the bell-shape from the arm, so it adds to that shape on the shoulder. So, it's just about adding another layer and double layering can work.

It can be really flattering and it actually can just be a way to add in another tone of color. The color that you wear is most important round your neck because whatever you wear here reflects onto the face. So, if there's a color that's not quite as good for you but you like it and it can work with the overall outfit, it's a good place to add the color, to add it on the arms here and then maybe in the shoes or accessories rather than close to the face.

So, you can add another layer but you want to keep this under-layer slim fit. So, you want the slim-fit layer underneath whether it's a silky chiffon or whether you're going for more of a matte casual fabric. So, add a layer underneath and then it's about working the top half.

So, whatever color you do here, you can then bring through the neck. So, whether it's adding a scarf, you can add that here. And again, it's great to have a color near your face.

You need to make sure the color works for you, but if it's a great color, then it's also a good way of trying a color rather than spending lots of money and splashing out on lots of clothing, trying out a scarf with accessories close to the face can be a really good way to make it work. So, here, and then the arms, maybe a jersey thing here and that color marrying up can be really great. You've also then got a crop jacket for an evening do.

So it's fine if you've got a dress that's got the sleeves that come through and it's longer. It's about layering and layering can work as long as you go for same tones. If you wanted to lengthen the arms and not to chop them up too much, make sure you keep the same tone underneath, so whether it's going for black or dark grey or another tone that's similar so that it's not drawing too many lines through the arm.

But it can still work, and if you want to add the warmth or a crop jacket is a great way in the summer to add a layer that's not too warm over a little cute dress. And that's how to wear a short sleeve jacket. .
