How To Wear A Waterproof Jacket

Waterproof jackets are not restricted to sportswear. They can be fashionable and flattering, too. Take this advice from a stylist and make a statement out of those rain jackets.

Hi. I'm Carla Leenders and I'm a stylist with The Glass Slipper. Today, I'm going to show you how to style your wardrobe.

I'm going to show you how to wear a waterproof jacket. Waterproof jackets can be a little bit of a mindful as they tend to fall under the category of sportswear or outdoors wear and they're not particularly flattering or particularly fashionable. However, there are a few stores and a few brands now that have started to do more flattering and more fashionable styles.

My advice would be to go for something a little bit longer. You want to get covered in a sense that you don't get wet but you don't want to go for anything too short t that's going to leave your bottom half exposed. So, something that falls just mid-thigh is probably the most flattering length on any body shape.

Secondly, go for something where you can get fitted a little bit to your own body shape so a jacket like this which has got toggles in the waist will allow you to cinch the waist in or to let the waist out depending on your figure. So, that way, you can pull it in a little bit and get a little bit more tailored to your own shape so it's not just a square and it's not just something that's functional but it's also something that's fashionable. What you team it with next is also really key.

I would recommend putting it with a pair of fashion savvy skinny cargo pants. Because the jacket's quite big on the top half, you want to go for something slim and long lined on the bottom half. It just bundles up your figure and elongates your legs.

Keep it simple by putting a nice simple jersey and some key accessories like a tonal scarf or a nice matching beanie hat with it just to pull the whole look together, and then, of course, make sure you put on your hunter wellies or a really nice pair of tool wellies to offset the look. This doesn't have to be something that's just warm when it's raining outside, this is Britain and it could rain at any time of the day, so an outfit like this can be worn all the time. But it can also look really fashionable and really trendy.

It doesn't have to be something that's functional. Lastly, you don't always have to go for something with a hood. Something like this which has a standout collar is quite nice because it doesn't add bulk and hoods sometimes can be problematic and a lot of people don't like wearing them.

Instead, go for something like this with a little standout collar and then put a beanie hat on with it. This is a really great way, again, to keep your outfit looking fashionable and it stays a key accessory that going to stop it looking from a functional rain jacket and make it look like a fashion item. So, it's not going to look like something that is just for outdoors.

And that's how you wear a rain jacket. .
