How To Wear Black Eyeshadow
Black eye shadows create a bold and sassy look but only if you wear it right. This video shows you how, and then, you can be off to a party with those smoky eyes.
Hello, my name is Karla Barchieri. I'm a freelance makeup artist, and today, I'm going to show you a few makeup tips. And now, I'm going to show you how to wear black eye shadow.
My model already has applied a black eye shadow look and we're going to make it more wearable for parties, for any event that you feel you want to look very glamorous and you want your eye makeup to stand out. The most popular black eye shadow makeup is the smoky eye and this is what she's got. She's got a smoky look.
We're going to make this more wearable, as I said, for a party look, something where she wants her eye makeup to stand out. And for that, I can recommend to apply false eyelashes and to make this eye shadow more shimmery with maybe metallics or glitter black eye shadow. So, the first thing I'm going to do is to curl her lashes - just look down for me please - and I'm just going to pull her lid up just to get them all in place.
Now, close, okay, so you press and just rotate the curler as you go along upwards. So, once our lashes are all done, you get your mascara on and do all her lashes. Okay, chin down for me and look up in the sky, please.
Okay, and you just grab all the hair that you see, the lashes that you see here, even the little ones, just try to reach them just to make everything to match with the black you're going to apply. Now, you can put as many layers of mascara as you feel comfortable with before applying your fake lashes. That's fine.
In this case, for the purpose of the video, I'm just going to do one pass. Now, I'm just going to get my black pencil liner and I'm just going to make a little liner here alongside the lash liner and it's just to make it darker just there. It's like a smoky eye, okay.
So, open your eyes for me please. Yes, lovely. So again, I'm just going very close to the lashes.
Just make sure there is no gap between the lashes and the actual colour and now you just grab a flat brush to apply a little bit more metallic on what she already had to make it more wearable with what she's going to wear, okay. There's not much I'm going to do here other than enhance what she has. With a blending brush, just make sure that the harsh line is softened, okay.
Lovely! And now, we go to our lashes. I have already put glue on these lashes so I'm just going to put them in. I've got right to the center of the eye, press them there, okay, and now I move to the beginning of the lashes and to the end of the lashes.
Okay, I put it in. I press in. You can get any sort of help with these, either the end of your brush could be a good one and you just press that very gently across the eye just to make sure that that is there.
Remember, with the eyelash glue, you need to let it dry a little bit because otherwise it won't attach. Okay, once it's there, I'm going to make it a little bit more extreme with this metallic blue liner from Boots. And then, I'm just going from outwards in, I'm just going to follow the lash line so this is going to bring some light in the eye and it's just going to make it a little bit more on occasion, something more special, okay.
Open your eyes for me, please. Do remember to make sure that you apply your foundation, do your eyebrows and pretty much make everything neat. And once you're happy with everything, this is my take on how to wear black eye shadow makeup. .
