This video will show you how to wear three types of dress shorts. From shorts meant for business wear to shorts meant for lovely spring garden parties, this video will give you plenty of ideas on how to wear your dress shorts.
When you're looking to choose dress shorts, think really, approach it the same way that you would approach a skirt. So, this type of a dress short is, in effect, a skirt but it's just a different option of having to wear a dress or a skirt. Bearing that in mind, you'd also need to think about the length of this.
If we're going for something quite pretty, quite feminine, something that you might wear to a party as a substitute for a skirt, you probably don't want to take this up too high in terms of length and just ensure that, for your shape, it's ending at a flattering part of the leg. This also tends to be quite a pretty romantic look. This is not necessarily the sequined, hot pants, clubbing look.
It's more of a feminine, flowy blouse look that you would wear together with that. I would also put that with heels or with very, very pretty gladiators or with some kind of pretty detailing on the foot as well. Adding ruffles, chiffon layers, I think the look on this is very floaty and feminine.
That's really the look that this lends itself to. Now, when you're trying to do a dress short, I really would encourage you not to confuse this type of a pretty look with something like that. This is a city short which is much more formal and lends itself to anything but ruffles.
This is very tailored and sleek. So, this is not the look that you're looking for if you want to team it up with pretty, girly, romantic accessories. This is intended to be worn more in a business context with more formal attire.
So that's what you wouldn't do together with your floaty, ruffly, chiffon tops. Another option that you would do, which is a lovely pair of dress shorts, which actually looks like a skirt but cleverly, if you look at the back, it's actually a pair of shorts. So something like this has the look benefit of a skirt but the practicality of a pair of shorts, so, best of both worlds.
This type of thing can be dressed up again with some kind of pretty blouse, some kind of a pretty detailed t-shirt. You could probably style that up with a pair of wedge heels. This is slightly less formal than the first, coral pair that we looked at.
Just looking at the fabric, it's quite soft. It's quite floppy and therefore, I probably wouldn't team that up with anything too stiff and structured. Keep to a very floaty theme with this type of dress short.
Think of lovely, spring garden parties. That's the look that you're going for as an alternative to a skirt or a dress. And these are some ideas to wear dress shorts. .
