A decent pair of gloves is a must-have for winter. But you can make a statement out of it too.
Hi, I'm Claire Wacey and I'm a personal stylist, and today I'm going to give you some great style tips. For anything you don't find in these videos, go to my website and check out all the tips I have there. Hi.
Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to wear gloves. Now, we all need them in the winter to keep us warm. Bu it's really important not to just choose a pair of gloves because they're going to keep you warm.
It's also important to make sure that you look fashionable and that you look really stylish. My favourite to wear, personally, are little mittens so you can cover up your fingers quite easily and have a full back. However, in terms of the fashion state, the ones I've chosen to discuss to with you today are long gloves and I think they really make a big fashion statement.
And also, a lot of the jackets around on the high street at the moment have a slightly shorter sleeve than usual. So usually, you have your scoop down to here and they're cutting them off anywhere in between here and here. So, it's really important to make sure that you have something elegant happening on your arm to make that coat really stand out and look fantastic.
So first off, a suede pair here that I've picked up. Now, you can get black suede gloves anywhere from the high street but I've chosen to get purple ones because I think it's really important when you've got a neutral colored coat just to have that splash of colour to make it a little bit more exciting. So for example, I've got here a leather jacket.
The reason I've chosen a leather to show you this suede is it's really going to mix up those textures. Don't think “I've got a leather jacket on, I must wear leather gloves.” Think about mixing up the textures so I've gone with the leather jacket which has also got wool on it as well, so another mixing in, and I'm popping that suede glove just coming out from under there.
It's great. But also, because this leather jacket is such a slim fit, you could put your leather jacket on and then pop your glove on top so you really make a statement and pull outside your jacket to give it that extra vavavoom or extra style element to it. So, go for colour, try purple, try red, you know, really just experiment and have fun with it.
The classic glove is a woollen glove which is great, always keeps our hands warm. When you're thinking about wearing gloves like this -I mean, these ones are long, it's just a matter of fit, short or long- think about wearing your watch over the top of your glove. So, put your glove on and then position your watch or your bangle or your statement piece of jewelry over the top of it.
For example, you could put it on and then put your ring over the top. It's a really fab way of making sure that you're showing your accessories because if you're going to, say, fireworks night, you're going to be outside the whole time. But you still want to show off your jewelry, so why not try putting it over the top of your glove to make it much more exciting.
Wool is much easier to do this way. If you try it with leather and suede, you'll find that your jewelry gets a little bit stuck to it and also it can mark it and you don't want to ruin your gloves or your jewelry. Last but no means least is the leather glove which is my all-time favourite, and if you are going to get leather gloves, go for something that's lined because always you have fitting fingers.
The reason I've chosen this one is, well, they're purple, they're elegant, they've got a great button detail and they feel really sexy when you're wearing them. I wear these ones with actually short-sleeve jumpers and then a leather glove, so actually it's a really bog trend to wear something short sleeved in winter but pop your leather glove on and take it all the way up your arm and actually, although you have a little bit of skin showing, it keeps you really really warm and it's a fab look so you could go with a sleeveless jacket or waist coat
