How To Wear Jeans

Fashion stylist Viv Harris shows you how to choose the perfect pair of jeans for every occasion.

Step 1: Dressed Up

Dress up your jeans with a classy top and heels. Indigo jeans are smarter as they're thicker and more structured. Look for a detail that sets them apart, such as metallic piping or bows on the pockets.
Combine with a cool top with a detail such as a corsage or ruffles, and finish with a simple accessory such as a cuff or earrings.

Step 2: Dressed Down

There's nothing more sophisticated than a confident woman in a great pair of jeans. Boot cut jeans are flattering and can be dressed down with a crisp white t-shirt and pumps or trainers. Add interest with studs or embroidery on the pockets.

Step 3: Glam Goth

Prints on jeans such as snakeskin or leopard print are a funky alternative, but be careful if you're pear shaped as they can make your hips look larger.
Wear with a t-shirt with a printed neckline, which will draw the eye to your cleavage without the need for jewellry. For an 80's punky look, try a red or yellow checked scarf around the neck and finish with some shoe boots.

Step 4: Biker Chic

The key to this look is black skinny jeans, which are surprisingly flattering for most figure shapes. Look out for details such as zips to accentuate your silhouette. Combine with a biker jacket with feminine details such as a frill on the back or cropped sleeves.

Step 5: Retro-Boho

Pale denim looks vintage and worn, and goes well with a kick flare style for the 70s boho look. Be careful if you're petite as flares can drown a small frame.
Wear with a faux fur gilet and brown heeled boots, but keep accessories to a minimum - some beads or a plaited head band.
