Hi, my names Carla Leenders, I'm a personal stylist at The Glass Slipper, and I'm going to show you how to style your wardrobe. Hi, I'm going to show you how to wear belts. People often ask me, “What can I do with my belts?” Belts shouldn't be restricted just to go on the belt loops of your jeans.

They can be used to really accessorize an outfit, and pull it together nicely. Statement belts like these in really bright colours or in nice patterns like this leopard print one are a great big trend and can be worn over anything. Take a nice fitted jacket like this, which is great but may be a bit plain on its own, and belt in right on the waist with something like this sort of belt.

It will really give your jacket a dramatic look and make it look fashionable and bang on trend. For a slightly summery boho look, you can take one of your maxi dresses, take a thick or wide leather belt, but make sure its got a bit give in it, nothing too stiff or it won't sit properly. Seat your belt on the hips, down as low as you can get it before it goes down to the top of your thighs.

Make sure it sits flat against the body, which is why you want something that is a little bit fluid and not so stiff. Also, going for something a bit wider can help to hide any bulges or any tummy that you might have. This gives a really nice boho look and is a really easy way to dress up something quite simple like a plain maxi dress.

In the winter, sweater dresses can be dressed up, again, with something like a nice statement belt. Sweater dresses can look a little bit plain, so putting something like this over the top, will not only help to synch in the waist and give you more definition and shape to your body, but also stop your item from looking a little bit boring. A nice statement belt can make a huge difference to even the plainest of items.

If you've got a tummy or a short body, then be careful about wearing them high up, as it can make your tummy look rounded, and your body look shorter. In that case, you should always wear your belts lower down on your hips. If you've got an hourglass figure, or an overly defined waist, then by all means wear them higher up.

That is how you wear belts. .
