How To Wear Layered T Shirts
T-shirts may be a staple in men's wardrobes but who says you can go ordinary with wearing it? Layer up to make them extra fashionable.
Hi. I'm Carla Leenders and I'm a stylist at Styling for Men. Today, I'm going to show you how to style your wardrobe.
I'm going to show you how to wear layered t-shirts. T-shirts are a staple of every man's wardrobe and you've probably got hundreds of them. But they don't just have to be worn on their own.
They can be worn around different outfits and layered up to make different looks. A plain white t-shirt like this can be layered under a trendy fashionable cardigan. A lot of men stay away from these because they think of cardigans as being boring.
But they can be really fashionable and actually really smart. So, put your plain t-shirt on and then pick a really nice tonal coloured cardigan. Keep it buttoned up as this is going to help maintain a nice slim shape.
And to make it look extra fashionable, put a key accessory with it, something like this nice black scarf. Layer your scarf over the top and it gives a really nice collegiate look which is so trendy and fashionable at the moment. You don't just have to layer your t-shirt under things.
A shirt like this is a really great layering tool for t-shirts. I always go for plain shirts when I'm wearing a checked shirt like this and I think it's better even for men as you don't want to put anything too big or anything that has a huge chest logo on it when you're mixing it up with something like a checked shirt. That looks great together, and because the shirt's really casual, just keep your shirt open.
The best thing to do when you're wearing a t-shirt underneath a checked shirt like this is to pick out one of the colours in it. One of the darker colours is always better, and then that way, it keeps everything tonal. Lastly, long sleeved t-shirts – these are great layering items especially now that it's a bit colder.
It's also a great way to make sure you get longevity out of your wardrobe so that things like this summery polo aren't just restricted for the spring and summer. You can wear them in the winter as well. Get a long sleeved t-shirt and just pop it underneath.
A lot of people get worried about layering up things like this but what you want to do is just make sure that you pick the item that goes underneath to be fairly tonal and not too contrasting. So, t-shirts like this in this charcoal colour work really well because they're not too contrasting against the green. So, if you're going to go for something bright, then go for something a little bit more muted but not too stark like a black.
Let the sleeves hang out and keep your collar open so that you get a little peek of the t-shirt around the neck area. And that's how to wear layered t-shirts. .
