How To Wear Leggings
Leggings are fashionable, flexible, and fabulous, but wearing them can be intimidating. VideoJug shows you how to make leggings a staple of your wardrobe, while looking like a star.
Hi, my name's Carla Leenders, I'm a personal stylist at The Glass Slipper, and I'm going to show you how to start a wardrobe. I'm going to show you how to wear leggings. Leggings can be quite tricky, and can seem quite scary to people.
Leggings are a really great basic, and an essential for any wardrobe, as they can be layered up along with many things. There are a few things to be careful of, though. Make sure you buy leggings in a very stretchy, heavy-weight material.
Anything that's really loose, or really fine, or doesn't have a lot of stretch in it will start to bag around knees and bag around the bottom and can look unsightly when you've had them on for a couple of hours. So go for something in high-quality fabric, and don't be afraid to spend a little more, because it will pay off in the end. Leggings are best when layered up.
They shouldn't really be worn with a short tee shirt or vest, as they can look a little bit unstylish. Wearing them with something like this, which is a smock dress or tunic dress, over the top, is a really great way to layer them up. It gives you coverage over your bottom and hips, and will also keep things looking defined and sleek.
It can make your legs look really long and really slim. Putting something like this on with your leggings is a really great way to dress them up. Stick this on with a pair of heels, and you're ready to go.
For a more casual, daytime look, you might want to layer them up with something like a sweater dress. Again, this gives you coverage over the hips and behind, covers any lumps and bumps, just gives a more streamlined look. With something like this, you could put on a pair of knee-high boots or a pair of riding boots, and it will really dress the look down and give you a stylish and sophisticated look that's nicely layered up without too much bulk.
When looking for leggings, be careful of the length. If you've got heavier calves, then don't go for anything that cuts you mid-calf length. Better to go for something that stops just above the ankle.
That way, it will elongate your legs and slim them down. If you've got very slim legs and smaller calves, you can go for something that cuts mid-calf, or even something that cuts at the knee, as that's not going to make your legs look any bigger. I would suggest for most people to buy a pair of black leggings, as they work with virtually every outfit.
Be careful of white leggings, as they can make you look bigger on your bottom half, and this also applies to any bright colors. That's how to wear leggings. .
