Hi. I'm Zoe Lem, stylist and owner of My Sugarland, and today, I'm going to give you some insider's tips of how to do fashion. I'm now going to show you how to wear navy trousers.

Now, you need to get perfect shape to begin with. The most flattering shaped trousers, genuinely, are wide leg trousers, especially if you're pear-shaped or hourglass. They're going to give you the shape and balance in the shoulders.

So, go for something a bit more like this so it's wider through the leg, nips in through the waist so you can want to keep it flat here, and a wide waist band is really great because it really nips you in. It almost works like a corset around the waist, so the perfect shape. If you're more straight up and down, you can get away with doing something a little bit more pencil-shaped.

These are great trousers. But they've got a lot of details through the sides so they're not right if you've got a slightly thicker thigh or calf but they're a great shape and an interesting way to do a navy trouser. If you're going for a wide leg shape, it's then about how to put something on the top half.

Navy's very flattering and it's a really good old terms of black. So, it can really flatter but without having the draining effect on your face. Also, navy trousers can work with that whole nautical kind of feel and even if it's not summer time which is associated with nautical style that comes with really crisp blinds, that work really well.

Something a bit different and interesting on the shoulders if you've got wide like trousers, you can then go with the width on the shoulders here, the detail through the top half which balances with the wide leg on the trousers. Tucked in is a really great style for now, so you can go tucked in, high-waisted and even go belted over the top, something a little bit different rather than just treating like a really plain pair of trousers. Also, other colours that go really well with navy, black and navy work really well together, so going for something black and a little bit different can work really well.

The colour tones are a good way to do black. Black and navy, also navy and brown and then alternatively doing shades of the same colour. So, taking blue and then doing other tones of blue with it.

So, mixing up, you've got the dark tone, a mid tone and maybe highlight. So, that's a really good way. So, if you're not sure of the colour or how to wear it, go for other tones of the same colour.

Likewise with red, doing tones of red, going for pinks, going for deep reds and bright reds, with navy, it works the same, so a light blue just as a highlight because it's genuinely not flattering all over and doesn't suit everyone. But as a base, a navy trouser is great but wide leg is a flattering shape. And that's how to wear navy trousers. .
