Here's how to choose ski jackets for your body shape, ladies, and safely slide down the slopes in style.
Hi, I'm Claire Wacey and I'm a personal stylist, and today I'm going to give you some great style tips. For anything you don't find in these videos, go to my website and check out all the tips I have there. Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to wear a ski jacket.
Now, if you are going skiing, you're already thinking about what are you going to be wearing on the slopes. Is it going to be the correct clothing to keep you warm, dry, etc? Now, the really important thing is those elements are something you cannot avoid. When you're on the slopes, you do not want to be damp, you do not want to be cold, you want to be able to just concentrate on staying up the mountain if you're like me and terrified.
But what I've chosen is I've chosen this classic ski jacket shape. It's a zip fastening but inside, it has actually got a double fold inside which means to keep you extra warm. When you're looking at your jackets, think about your body shape.
So if you're slightly pear-shaped, you need to go for something that's perhaps got a zip element or a tie-in at the waist but slightly bigger on the bottom. Otherwise, the fit is not going to work for you and also when you're bending down into the ski position, you're going to get really cold bottom which is not a good thing on the slopes. If you're quite straight up and down, just a classic square shape like this is fantastic.
The zip detail at the front is great but also it's got an interior section which you do up which stops the snow going up the top of your jacket. Another element that you really want to make sure about when you're buying a ski jacket is that it fits correctly on the arms. So if it comes up too high, you're going to have to then think about different sorts of gloves and it's really going to get quite complicated.
So when you're picking your jacket, you need to try it on and make sure it works with your body shape so make sure it's not too tight on your hip area because when you bend into the ski position, it's going to be really uncomfortable. You also need to make sure it's not too high that actually you'd get cold midriff or kidneys, whatever. So when you're picking a ski jacket, think about style as well.
You know, you're thinking about your body shape but you're also thinking standout. You're still going to look stylish even if on the slopes. So I've chosen this white one because again it gets really great for a skier or a snowboarder and if you're a snowboarder, I'd go for something slightly baggier style of pants so that you can really manoeuvre yourself real easily but also go with the prints or go with the khaki or that yellow, just so you really stand out.
In terms of when you're skiing, I think it's better to go for a slightly slimmer fit style of pants mainly because, I think, the way that your stance when you're skiing or when you're snowboarding is very very different. I think a slimmer fit would work much better with this jacket because it's quite a voluminous jacket at the top. Introduce colour into your ski wear and don't be afraid of getting a colored jacket, get colored style of pants, and really make it much more exciting.
So if you want some more ideas on ski jackets, what sort of shapes would work for different body shapes or get some different ideas of shaped jackets, have a look at these pictures and then go out, buy your ski jackets, think about being stylish but also think about the fit and the comfort. .
